Gary Sommerford is a successful senior manager with over 27 years experience in the execution and management of a full range of counter fraud and risk work, investigative services, cost containment and associated training. His experience spans the private and public sectors and the insurance industry within the UK and overseas, including Europe, Middle East, Asia, the Americas and Africa.

Gary is a qualified Home Office Deputy Senior Investigating Officer, National Interview Advisor, Advanced Interviewer and Accredited Counter Fraud Specialist.

He is also a Member of the Institute of Leadership and Management and a Graduate of the City & Guilds Institute (London).

In October 2012, Gary was awarded the title of Investigator of the Year by the Health Insurance Counter Fraud Group (HICFG) at the Global Healthcare Anti Fraud Summit. This is a prestigious award in recognition of his contribution to the industry as a result of outstanding achievement, innovation, hard work, dedication, professionalism and perseverance. This winner of this award is an individual recognised by the industry as a person that has had a significant impact on countering fraud in both healthcare and the health insurance environment.

The HICFG is supported by the Association of British Insurers and participated by the City Of London Police, Insurance Fraud Bureau and NHS Protect. The structure and purpose of the group is in line with NHS Counter Fraud initiatives to prevent and detect fraud within healthcare.

In January 2013, Gary formed larus consulting to provide a full range of counter fraud, risk, investigations and cost containment solutions for the insurance industry, large or small businesses, public sector organisations, the legal profession, governmental departments and individuals both in the UK and overseas.
